We started 2017 with the continuation of work in the “Black Box” theater. The new floor and handicap ramp installed in 2016 received a floor finish and railings. The walls and ceiling in the “black box” that sustained damage from demolition have been patched or repaired to maintain the fire rating (Jim’s Drywall Service) and old lighting was replaced in 2016 with new LED fixtures. New wall pillars were designed by Lynn Bankhead and framed in by our finish contractor. Included in the design are capitals that will house up lighting and speakers. Finish work on these is ongoing as we move forward with the purchase of the sound system.
In April 2017 the old lobby, restrooms, and snack bar area was demolished (Cal West Concrete) to make room for an expanded lobby with café area and new restroom configuration. Trenches have been dug to accommodate underground rough plumbing (John Carter Plumbing). As these interior renovations were happening, the underground portion of our fire protection system was installed (Foothill Fire Protection) and they have started on the first phase of plans, permits and installation of ceiling water feed and sprinklers to the “black box” and lobby area.
