Thank you to all who have helped in so many ways as we will be hosting our first event in the Black Box on June 3rd. It will be a “soft opening” as we put the final touches to the Box. For the past six months we have worked to complete the fire suppression system, do all the rough plumbing for the lobby and bathrooms, as well as the water feature for the memorial to honor the 1976 Yuba City choir. Additionally, quite a bit of metal framing was installed to reinforce doorways, up lighting completed in the six columns and the concrete was poured to enclose the rough plumbing. The box has been painted and black curtains will be hung on two sides of the box.
A doorway from the lobby to the Gallery is under construction; therefore, the Gallery is now in the Black Box through May. Please come and see the work and visit the Gallery which is open from Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5:00.
Our next steps will be to install the HVAC, provide a sound system, hang the drapes and apply the last protective coat of finish to the floor.
Again, a big “thank you” is in order to all the many volunteers and contractors who continue to assist us with the work, donate time and products, and of course, help with the much needed clean-up.
