Little Stars String Trio Opens the Black Box

The Little Stars delighted the audience once again as they performed a concert in our Black Box to launch the sale of their first CD.  Yes, the Black Box opened June 2nd for this very special one-time event. Dustin (11 yrs.), Starla (10 yrs) and Valery (9 yrs), under the direction of Dr. Ayke Agus, played Mozart, Mendelssohn, Haydn, Bach, Paganini, and Wieniawski. Additionally, the Little Stars played four of their own arrangements. All participants left in awe of their talent, poise, and discipline. The Stars answered questions from the audience as we asked about practice times, school routines, favorite concert halls and much more.

This was indeed the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s first event in the Black Box, a multi-use room that in the near future will be the venue for receptions, plays, music recitals, and many other community events.

While we did not have the HVAC system in place, the spirits were not dulled as we all listened intently to the sweet sounds of these very special children playing their string instruments. Guests were presented with a very elegant box of appetizers and champagne or water as they entered the room. The room was staged with round tables for eight and soft lighting, just perfect for a Sunday afternoon concert.

The Sutter Performing Arts Association wishes to acknowledge and thank not only the Breshears and Dr. Agus, but to all the many volunteers, our local government, and businesses in working tirelessly to support the rebirth of the Sutter Theater.

Please stay tuned as we reach the completion of the Black Box, which entails installing the HVAC system and new bathrooms.
