|Recurring Event (See all)
An event every week that begins at 12:00pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until August 31, 2018
The Theater Art Gallery in Yuba City opens on August 1st with guest artist STEPHEN DeWITT. His abstract paintings and portraitures will be on sale and on exhibit alongside works by the gallery’s six resident artists throughout August. The hosted Artist Reception, a chance to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments while viewing the exhibit, is on Thursday, August 2, from 5 – 7 pm. Admission to the gallery is always free, with a new art exhibit on display each month. Located at 756 Plumas Street adjacent to the Sutter Theater, gallery hours are Wed – Sat from 12 – 5 pm. Artist STEPHEN DeWITT came to the Yuba-Sutter area two years ago and enjoys the natural beauty found here. He holds an art degree from Humboldt State University and has lived in the Northwest for many years. His works have been on exhibit in Eureka, Arcata, San Fr ancisco, Tacoma, and recently here at Justin’s Kitchen on Plumas Street in Yuba City. Originally inspired by his seventh grade art teacher, he has been painting for thirty years. Using acrylics and oils, as well as charcoal and pastels, Stephen evokes emotions with colors in his paintings and drawings. He describes his art as “neo abstract expressionism” and endeavors to show the “landscapes of the inner mind.” There is a definite “wow factor” to his vivid, colorful artwork, so don’t miss this exhilarating gallery show! The Theater Art Gallery is open every week, Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. Come in and enter the drawing to win a jewelry piece each month. An Artist Reception is held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm usually on the first Thursday of every month, complete with complimentary refreshments. Proceeds from The Theater Art Gallery benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater, turning it into a viable community center.
