Trained in a number of painting workshops, refining her work over 18 years, MARY ANN NATION has gradually developed her style of loose, impressionistic landscapes and seascapes. Most of her picturesque work has been done plein air in Mendocino, the Sacramento Valley, and in the foothills. Other paintings have been done from her own photos or still life objects. All her oils are created with a palette knife, and recently she switched to using less toxic water mixable oils, achieving the same excellent results. She has shown her work in galleries in Ft. Bragg, Colusa, Marysville, and Yuba City. For Mary Ann painting has become a way to capture nature and share its beauty with others. She enjoys working from clients’ travel photos, providing them with original oil paintings of treasured and memorable places.
Six years ago BOB NATION began painting using watercolors under the tutelage of various Mendocino – Ft. Bragg artists. Early in 2018 he started to prefer using oils for his artwork. He has shown his work at the Colusa County Fair in 2018, winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards on his oils. Since then they were shown at the City Hall in Yuba City and are currently on view at Ting’s Refuge restaurant in Yuba City. Both husband and wife enjoy being out in nature and creating beautiful scenic landscapes. This is a must-see show and guaranteed to please all viewers!
