September in the Theater Art Gallery |
September 14 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 12:00pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until September 29, 2018
In September, The Theater Art Gallery welcomes guest artists REBECCA WALLACE and ROSANNA BAKER. Enjoy acrylic and oil paintings and handmade jewelry, respectively, by these two talented artists. Our hosted Artist Reception is Thursday, September 6, from 5 – 7 pm at the gallery. Come in, meet the artists, and enjoy complimentary refreshments while viewing the exhibit. Admission to the gallery is always free, with a new art exhibit on display each month. Located under the striped awning at 756 Plumas Street in downtown Yuba City next to the Sutter Theater, art gallery hours are Wed – Sat from 12 – 5 pm. The September show continues to the end of the month.
Yuba College art instructor teaching courses in drawing and painting, REBECCA WALLACE holds a BA degree in Fine Art from San Francisco State University and a MA degree in Fine Art from California College of the Arts, San Francisco. On exhibit will be her unique “portal” and “fractal” acrylic / oil paintings which “explore our inner worlds and how they connect and overlap with our day to day experiences.” She will feature many of her seascape paintings. Her work is simultaneously introspective, contemplative, and meditative. Rebecca recently completed two murals in Live Oak, CA. She was a lso part of the Utility Box project, notably painting the vivid poppy covered box in Marysville’s Veterans Park. She aptly chose poppies since they refer to the soldiers who gave their lives for their country in the famous poem, “In Flanders Field.” Her work has been displayed in various locations in California, and is now at Justin’s Kitchen on Plumas Street and at the Museum of Northern California Art in Chico, CA. Our gallery is delighted to showcase her art.
Also in her debut exhibit at The Theater Art Gallery is ROSANNA BAKER, owner of Brems Jems in Marysville. Incorporating stones such as agate, jasper, labradorite, and turquoise in her designs, she fabricates one-of-a-kind, wire wrapped pendants and jewelry. In addition to her handmade creations, Rosanna makes and packages aromatic soaps for sale. Most days, Rosanna can be found in her gift shop at 412 D Street in Marysville, inside J & J Framing. We are very pleased to have her work in our September gallery show.
The Theater Art Gallery is open every week, Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. An Artist Reception is held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm usually on the first Thursday of every month, complete with complimentary refreshments. Proceeds from The Theater Art Gallery benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater, turning it into a viable community center.
