Theater Gallery MAY Art Show and Reception
May 4, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
In May The Theater Gallery in Yuba City proudly presents beautiful paintings and drawings by SHANNON DOSCHER and creative ceramic sculptures by KAREN FULK. Their work will be spotlighted all month, along with gallery resident artists Luisa Leger, D. Ellen Day, Paul Spoto, and Rosalynd Bliss. The art show and sale runs from May 3 through May 27. Be sure to attend the Artist Reception at the gallery on Thursday, May 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is free, offering complimentary refreshments. Located at 756 Plumas Street in downtown Yuba City next to the Sutter Theater, the gallery’s hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. during the exhibit.
Inspired by both her mother and her grandmother, SHANNON DOSCHER has delved into art for most of her life. It’s a personal passion of hers. She has been involved in our community, painting scenes for The Acting Company shows. Since returning from the Bay Area four years ago, she has been seriously painting on her own. Shannon has an eclectic style, very spontaneous, and loves using bright colors in her work. She specializes in acrylics, watercolors, and pen and ink drawings of landscapes, portraits, and animals. She is inspired by whatever catches her fancy. Come and see her fun-filled exhibit!
Multi-talented artist KAREN FULK will display her “figurative” oil-painted ceramic sculptures this month at The Theater Gallery. A Fine Arts graduate of UC Davis, Karen studied under famed artists Wayne Thiebaud and Robert Arneson. She was also inspired by taking classes after college from Miriam Davis and began her “narrative sculptures” then. She is a very talented caricature artist, and has taught Disney-style cartooning to kids in grades K – 12. Her artwork can be viewed at the Artisan Gallery currently and at Yuba Sutter Arts. She won the “Spirit of California” award at the State Fair and even has a pair of leather pants she made in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Her whimsical and entertaining sculptures are delightful! Don’t miss her show in May!
The Theater Gallery is open every week, Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. Come in and enter the drawing to win a jewelry piece each month. An Artist Reception is held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, complete with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. Proceeds from The Theater Gallery benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater, turning it into a viable community center.
